I-9 Self Audit Correction Form - Downloadable

Document corrections made to your I-9 Forms during a self-audit.

You should conduct self-audits of your I-9 Forms on either an annual or semi-annual basis. These audits can be conducted by internal staff trained in proper I-9 completion and verification procedures, or you can hire an expert to complete the audit for you. This will not only ensure all your I-9 Forms are completed correctly, but also helps to remove any I-9 Forms that have reached their retention requirements and should be purged.

When making corrections to your I-9 Forms, you can correct errors made in Section 2 or Section 3 of the forms. If you discover an error in Section 1, you should ask your employee to correct the error. The best way to correct the I-9 Form is to draw a line through the incorrect information, enter the correct information, and initial and date your correction. Additionally, you should attach this form explaining the error and what you did to correct it. You should not conceal any changes made on the form. Doing so may lead to increased liability under federal immigration law.
