    E-Verify & Right to Work
1/02/2012 - Alabama is now the most recent state to require all employers to enroll in and verify employment eligibility through E-Verify. This requirement goes into effect on April 1, 2012. The new law prohibits all Alabama employers, public and private, from knowingly employing unauthorized aliens. Additionally, the law prohibits state government entities from awarding contracts or providing grants or other incentives to employers that fail to enroll in and verify employment eligibility through E-Verify. This provision goes into effect on January 1, 2012. Violations of the law can result in significant penalties for employers including business license suspicion.
    Child Labor
08/12/09 — The Alabama Child Labor poster was updated to reflect the recently signed legislation that reforms Alabama's child labor enforcement standards and transfers the work permit process from the public school system to the Alabama Department of Labor. The new legislation also replaces child work permits with business certificates and allows the department of labor to issue civil money penalties and/or prosecution for any violation of the law.

In addition to your state poster(s), you may also receive small individual state posters. These postings will help you to comply with certain requirements that you have to meet according to your type of workers' compensation coverage, unemployment insurance and your state's smoking laws.
