In addition to learning what the bystander effect is and what causes it, you will also learn about the three 'I's":

  • How to identify actions or statements that call for interruption - including harassment, discrimination, and micro-aggressions
  • How to intervene or interrupt safely and effectively using strategies that work for you and the situation
  • How to follow up on the situation for maximum impact

Accessible to Users with Disabilities

  • This training fully complies with not only Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act but also the much stricter requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standard.

When providing online compliance training, many employers violate the Americans with Disabilities Act because their training is not fully accessible to users with disabilities. The EEOC has sued several employers in recent years, in part for not providing accessible training. This year, the U.S. Department of Justice issued “Web Accessibility Guidance Under the Americans with Disabilities Act” and noted its renewed focus on suing companies for violating this guidance.

Bystander intervention training is one of the most effective ways to teach employees within your organization to not only address, but prevent harassment in the workplace.  The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) recommends that all employees take Bystander Intervention training nationwide.

Several jurisdictions have requirements for bystander intervention training and recently, the Chicago City Council passed an amnedment to the city's sexual harassment laws. The amendment states that in addition to sexual harassment prevention training, “all employees must participate in one hour of bystander training annually.”

This 1-hour training course meets the new requirements and will ensure your organization is legally compliant.

Learners who complete this course will be able to:

  • Recognizing subtle acts of bias and discrimination that can cause harm to others
  • Real world scenarios
  • Examples of discrimination, implicit bias, and micro-aggressions
