Effective April 1 through December 31, 2020, this law requires private employers with fewer than 500 employees to provide paid time off and expanded leave to employees due to certain COVID-related absences. Some examples include the employee’s own illness or exposure to the virus, self-quarantine advised by a healthcare provider, the need to care for a family member affected by the virus, and inability to work because of a child’s school or daycare closure.
