Mandatory New Form I-9 Required

New Form I-9 Released!

All U.S. employers are required to verify the identity and employment eligibility of new hires using the mandatory Form I-9. A revised Form I-9 was issued July 2017 by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and will be mandatory beginning September 18, 2017.

Employers will be able to use this revised version or continue using Form I-9 with a revision date of 11/14/16 N through Sept. 17. On Sept. 18, employers must use the revised form with a revision date of 07/17/17 N.

The latest Form I-9, version dated 07/17/17 N includes the following changes:

  • Update to the List of Acceptable Documents (The Consular Report of Birth Abroad, Form FS-240, was added to List C)
  • Update to the Form I-9 Instructions (Changing the name of the Office of Special Counsel for Immigration-Related Unfair Employment Practices to Immigrant and Employee Rights Section)
