All U.S. employers are required to verify the identity and employment eligibility of new hires using the mandatory Form I-9. The latest Form I-9 was released in 2020. Stay compliant with the law by using the most recent Form I-9 and following the instructions and record keeping guidelines that accompany it.
On October 18, 2021, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released new increased penalties for Form I-9 violations, in accordance with annual inflation. The new fines will be effective for penalties assessed after October 18, 2021 for associated violations which occurred after November 2, 2015.
The current I-9 form has an expiration date of 10/31/2022.
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) requires every employee to complete Form W-4 before he or she may claim withholding allowances on income tax returns. New W-4 forms must also be completed whenever an employee’s tax status changes, such as with the birth of a child or a change in marital status.
As of August 4, 2020, businesses with 50 or more employees that hold federal contracts worth at least $50,000 face new recordkeeping requirements. As part of their affirmative action obligations, these federal contractors and subcontractors must now invite job applicants and employees to self-identify as persons with disabilities and collect information to assess the effectiveness of their outreach and recruitment efforts.
Use the Affirmative Action Voluntary Forms Bundle to record efforts to provide equal opportunities for protected veterans and qualified people with disabilities.
The bundle includes two separate forms:
Voluntary Affirmative Action and Veteran Status Data Form which helps to gather the race, ethnicity, job position and veteran status information needed to complete an affirmative action plan as well as other affirmative action filings.
Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability Form which helps Federal Contractors provide applicants and employees an opportunity to voluntarily self-identify as individuals with disabilities. See more details...
